Grants
Where possible, we try to provide an allocation of small grants for basic needs for our most vulnerable members. We recognise that these small acts of kindness can go a long way to helping our members cope with their day-to-day challenges.
Grant applications are considered by our trustees on individual merit. The applicant’s details are confidential will be known only to the Trustees of Leicestershire Kidney Patients Association. Items to assist with dialysis such as drip stands are to be supported by a renal doctor or nurse. Other types of grant applications must come with an endorsement either from the renal social worker, or a renal nurse.
Grants can only be given up to a maximum value of £200. If the application is for help in purchasing a piece of household equipment then the equipment will be ordered by LKPA, at their cost or a subsidy might be given towards such a piece of equipment providing LKPA has agreed to this.
Note: Submission of an application unfortunately does not guarantee that it will be successful. LKPA funding is limited, so we may not be able to fund or fully fund your request, even if your application meets our criteria.
Examples the LKPA Committee will consider grant applications for items which will reduce suffering, improve quality of life and enhance patient comfort, such as:
- wheelchairs, bath lifts, etc
- replacement fridge, washing machine, cooker etc.
NOTE: All white goods can only be ordered by LKPA, including wheelchair, bath lift etc.
