The Leicestershire Kidney Patients Association (LKPA) was established in 1976 by Professor John Walls, founding consultant of UHL kidney services. It is a registered charity organisation run by volunteers, mainly consisting of renal patients or their friends and relatives. The LKPA is run for the benefit of its members, who are renal patients, their relatives, carers and supporters. It is principally associated with patients throughout Leicestershire who are treated at Leicester General Hospital and its satellite units.

LKPA Aims and Main Activities

The LKPA aims to assist its members through provision of support and guidance via telephone, email, and our website; allocation of small grants for basic needs; helping to organise educational sessions; organising social events and outings (recognising that some LKPA members are unable to drive, may feel isolated or anxious about being in company/travelling because of the restrictions that their condition puts upon them).
